Mental Health First Response in Community Settings
Community workers are often the first person someone turns to when they are struggling. This course builds the confidence and practical skills to recognise when a person may be experiencing mental ill-health or distress, to respond with calm and care, and to connect them with the right support, all within the appropriate scope of a non-clinical first responder. It is designed specifically for Australian community settings: neighbourhood houses, community centres, support programs, drop-in services, advocacy organisations and similar environments where workers and volunteers regularly encounter people in distress without being mental health clinicians themselves.
